Technology for Transportation
TCS has provided consulting to both transportation organizations, regulators and to transportation technology companies on a variety of technology applications for functional areas of transportation, including telecommunications and call distribution / management systems, reservations systems including call centers with human and automated attendants and on-line methods, routing and scheduling optimization systems, digital dispatch and vehicle control including Automatic Vehicle Location (“AVL”) using the Global Positioning System (“GPS”), Mobile Data Terminal (“MDT”) / Mobile Data Computer (“MDC”) and Android “tablet” systems, smart metering, driver scheduling / shift optimization and extra board management systems, vehicle mix optimization, vehicle communications systems, vehicle maintenance, transportation reporting / statistical, transportation cashiering and general and administrative and office automation tools. TCS expertise extends to a variety of other transportation technologies.
TCS has also consulted on a variety operational and dispatch systems for various modes including taxicab service, trip brokering, ADA paratransit, deviated fixed-route, subscription trips (such as social service), hospital passenger and hospital deliveries, shared-ride airport shuttle, on-airport and curbside taxicab management / control, special student and magnet school pupil transportation, motorcoach charter reservations and many other transportation modes. In addition to consulting to transportation organizations and agencies, major transportation software companies have called upon TCS consulting for business development and for improving software usability and functionality. TCS also partnered in proposals for two RFPs for Microsoft’s corporate campus dial-a-ride and its associated shared-ride software.
TCS also provides routing and scheduling services by utilizing advanced algorithms and internally developed analytical tools, also known as “software as service” or “SAS.” These services are especially useful in paratransit, shared ride taxicab and other shared ride modes.
Additionally, TCS president Charles Johnson brings previous hands-on experience in managing multi-mode ground transportation operations, using advanced computer dispatch technologies, as well as prior experience managing North American Operations for a major computer dispatching and transportation technology firm. Thus, he truly brings experience from every angle of the transportation technology environment.
